The Playstation 3 has nothing short of a magnificent year of exclusives with everything arriving from major franchise sequels to impressive new IPs from top notch studios.
We had an immensely large ball of fun on our Playstation 3’s this year, but which game was the best of the lot?
Here are the nominees for best Playstation 3 game :
God of War III
Heavy Rain
Modnation Racers
Gran Turismo 5
MAG
And the award goes to:
Winner: Heavy Rain
The Playstation 3 brought us a wide variety of great exclusives this year ranging from racing games, action/adventures, shooters and a lot more.
This year saw a very strong showing from Sony with hard-hitting franchises like God of War and Gran Turismo 5 but none were able to keep up with the haunting and tense experience delivered by Heavy Rain
We’d suggest you play all of these Playstation 3 titles if you haven’t already, but if you could only pick one, our choice would be Heavy Rain which was voted unanimously as the best Playstation 3 game of the year.

Once again, I would have had it the other way around. Heavy Rain was very good, but the scale of GOW3 just made my jaw drop every time. At the end of the day both where very awesome!!

I envision a lot of GOW3 fans being saddened by this result. I for one don’t get the love of GOW, yes I know it’s epic…
Didn’t realise everyone loved Heavy Rain as much as I did. Will be playing it through again shortly with my Move 🙂

For me again I have to vote for Heavy Rain. GOW3 is more of the same, which is awesome, but done.
Heavy Rain was unique and original. Has my vote!

I don’t own a PS3 but one of my mates does and I played all of the above games except MAG and I have to say GOW3 would’ve been my choice, I was so impressed with that game that I’m saving up to buy a PS3 just because of it. I wish it was on the xbox 🙁

I am yet to play Heavy Rain so I can’t fully comment on the choice here, it does look like it can be an incredible game, perhaps for best story? But once I have played I will know for sure.
GOW 3 had my face melt off with it’s sheer awesomeness but it never managed to keep that feel going through the entire game, Runner up is the right place for it 🙂

I’ve heard from a few people that GOWIII’s ending was so horrible that it almost spoiled the whole game for them.
Hoping my PS3-owning friend get it so I can try it out though, loved the first 2 games.

Heavy Rain was interesting for what it was but it is definitely not the best PS3 exclusive to come out in the last year. That honor has to go to God of War 3.

Mmm, would’ve picked God of War III. Heavy Rain could have been done on the Xbox as well (minus controller wagging moments) whereas God of War III’s stupidly big 36GB (or so) Blu-Ray really shows off what can be done on the PS3 when you put your head down and work.

I dunno. God of War 3 was visually incredible and had an amazing scope, but it lacked a bit in the writing and the godawful end. God of War 2 is a much better game as is Ghost of Sparta on PSP. Ghost of Sparta is 2010’s best GoW game, and a good reason to get hold of a psp.

Lol, who voted for ModNation Racers? As arcade racers go it’s by far the most frustrating I’ve played in a long time.
Oh, and agreed about Heavy Rain. A well deserved win I think.

Haven’t played Modnation Racers or MAG,but GT5 really isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Can’t really fault this one.It would’ve been between GOW3 and Heavy Rain and although GOW3 kicked this in the nutsack visually,as an overall experience I’d accept either one.

Heavy Rain is an awesome game , but you guys missed one very important title – Demon Souls. I know it was released last year, but it was only released in April 2010 in the pal territories making it eligible for your 2010 awards or am I mistaken?

I recently purchased a ps3 after years of 360 gaming… picked up the gow collection and god of war III, uncharted 2, and now it looks like I’ll have to invest in heavy rain… I’ve got killzone 3 on pre-order and I’m looking forward to seeing if uncharted 2 can stun me with it’s brilliance the way mass effect 2 did.
