The Lazygamer Awards 2010 – Best Xbox 360 Game

The Xbox 360 brought forward a long and varied line-up of exclusives in 2010.

We stepped into the shoes of Sam Fisher once more, albeit not in the way that we are used to and also walked into the world of a writer, Alan Wake, whose nightmares become a reality. We also saw Bungie’s last Halo title before moving on from Microsoft and more.

A good year for Xbox 360, but which one of its titles deserves the crown as the best?

Here are the nominees for best Xbox 360 game :

Mass Effect 2

Alan Wake

Splinter Cell: Conviction

Fable III

Halo Reach

And the award goes to:

LGAxboxwinner.jpg

Winner: Mass Effect 2

Splinter Cell was good, Alan Wake was good, Fable III wasn’t all that bad and Halo Reach definitely has a lot going for it but no other game in this category could even come close to touching the roleplaying/shooter/adventure powerhouse that is Mass Effect 2.

Bioware gave us one of the most intense, enthralling and deep video gaming experiences of all time and it’s no wonder that Mass Effect 2 is one of the only titles to ever score a very rare 10/10 on Lazygamer.

Runner-Up: Halo Reach

…and yes, we’re well aware that the xbox 360’s best game is headed to the PS3 (and soon!)…but right now, it’s a 360 game. It’s also awesomesauce, so pick it up when it hits the ps3 next year, mkay?

ME 2 deserves it for overall experience as well as length and things to do. I spent 30 hours in this game and enjoyed most of it.

My runner up would have been Alan Wake for the innovative gameplay, compelling story and making me swear repeatedly while being surrounded by taken and while trying to put batteries in my flash light. Also in most games you waste hundreds of rounds hitting air but in this game you needed to make every shot count and that made it more intense.

I may be alone on this, but I loved SC: Conviction. The story, timing of the game, mark and execute, co-op made it my favourite xbox game this year.

P.S, Nitefenix, about time you chhanged your avatar pic. I like 😉

This is true, but I need to play through number one first, and the thought of all that talkie talkie puts me off a little :-/

Conviction and Reach were both fantastic, Fable III was a bit meh 😛

Yip, good choice, or rather, the only GOOD choice

Alan Wake and Halo was rather…ordinary for platform exclusives I think (and, NO, I am not a PS3 fanboy, I own both consoles).

YES! Completely agree. Two sunning games, both worthy of their critical acclaim. Don’t think Alan Wake and SC:C should even be on this list, as they were really really good games, but certainly not console sellers.

MASS EFFECT 2, simply brilliant but it aint a game that you could play over and over. At first I thought ME1 was stupid and copying Halo but when I eventually player ME1 that I borrowed from a friend I fell in love, so Mass Effect 2 is just Icing on the cake.

I might be slightly biased here, but I feel the award should have gone to Alan Wake.

Sure ME2 was pretty good, but Alan Wake brought so much to the table it was pretty hard to enjoy anything after that. I loved it to bits

    ME2 FTW!!

They completely fixed all the issues that was in the first installment and this just made the experience so much more enjoyable.

    Good Decision

Mass Effect 2 is one of my favourite games of all time so, yes, I agree with you 100%. Spent about 50 hours on my first play through. Halo Reach and Alan Wake are both awesome titles too.
