IP

It’s largely been a year of sequels; we’ve gotten Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Crysis 2, Gears of War 3 – and the list seems to go on and on. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t fresh, new experiences to be had.

Here are the nominees for best new IP

Dead Island
Warhammer 40 000: Space Marine
Bastion
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures
Bulletstorm
L.A Noire

And the award goes to:

LANoire

Winner: L.A Noire

Classy, it’s mature, and unlike anything else this year, L.A Noire won our hearts with its incredible recreation of a 1940’s LA, its unmatched facial motion capture and its fresh take on the point-and-click adventures of an era past. It may have ultimately failed in its story-telling, but it’s something we definitely want to see more of.

Runner-Up: Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures
