Beyond

I’m not sure why it is, but I’m struggling to become really excited again about Beyond: Two Souls. I loved Heavy Rain, and I love what David Cage is trying to do with videogames as a medium – but I’ve just stopped caring about the game. Maybe it’s the fact that the next-generation is looming? I really don’t know – because the game does indeed look fantastic; mostly thanks to that incredible motion capture. Here’s a video showing how bits of it was made. I’m not as excited as I should be.

What do you think? Is David Cage’s latest going to set a new benchmark? will it be the PS3’s great swansong – or has the Last of Us already got it beat?

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
