Say what you like about the gaming industry today and the fact that some budgets could finance a Nkandla-get-stuffed-poor-people-mansion or five, but it’s hard to deny that indie games are finally finding a larger platform to be noticed on. The PlayStation 4 already has plenty of those smaller budget games available. And it’s going to get a lot more.
At a San Francisco press event, Sony revealed that it’ll be adding the following games, and more, to their PlayStation systems:
- Axiom Verge – PlayStation 4, PS Vita
- Escape Goat 2 – PlayStation 4
- Ironclad Tactics – PlayStation 4
- Apotheon – PlayStation 4
- Nidhogg – PlayStation 4
- Skulls of the Shogun Bone-A-Fide Edition – PlayStation 4
- Starwahl: Just the Tip – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3
- Jamestown Plus – PlayStation 4
- Drifter – PlayStation 4, PS Vita
- Chasm – PlayStation 4
- Source – PlayStation 4
- Spelunky – PlayStation 4
And here’s a trailer for some of those games from the PS Blog:
That’s a ton of quality right there. Games such as Spelunky and Nidhigg have already developed cult audiences on PC, so I’m keen to see some console love thrown towards the studios as well. Expect more details at E3, as Sony lays out their plans for the indie market.
