The Thief Dossier – Meet the cast

There’s a lot of faces lurking in the shadows of the City. And most of them aren’t friendly. Still, for every weary traveller that arrives on the fair streets of this once illustrious metropolis, it’s a good idea to know who’s who. Secrets, coins and favours can buy you anything in the City. Provided that you’re speaking to the right person.

Garrett

City4

The City may be filled with all manner of thieves and murderers, but at least one of them has a code of honour that he strictly adheres to.

Garrett wasn’t born in the lap of luxury, and soon learnt the hard way that his very survival depended on his hands being swift and his wits being even quicker. Honing his talents for picking pockets after escaping the childhood orphanage where he grew up, Garrett quickly became the best of the best.

One with the shadows, mysterious and observant, Garrett now lives to steal…But only from the rich folks who deserve it, as his personal code forbids him from depriving the poor of their meagre possessions. Just don’t expect Garrett to hand over his riches to the downtrodden, because what’s yours is indeed his.

Erin

Garrett may be the best in the business, but he sure does have some competition to keep him on his dead-quiet toes. The opposite side of the same pilfered coin, Erin is a more aggressive and impulsive thief in comparison to Garrett’s cool and calm exterior.

Headstrong, cocky and aggressively sneaky, Erin isn’t afraid to shed some blood in order to get the Watch off her tail. But she’s a damn good asset to have by your side when the going gets tough.

Basso

Basso

He may not have any friends in the City, but Basso may be the closest thing that Garrett has to one. There’s a black market for goods that have been obtained in less than legal ways, and the well-connected boxman Basso is all too happy to take them off the hands of Garrett.

For the right price of course. It’s nothing personal, it’s just business.

Jenivere

Jenivere

Basso’s trusty magpie bird, and the best messenger around when it comes to keeping Garrett informed and in the loop as to which house needs a little breaking and entering.

Lord Northcrest

The City has had many rulers in the past, but Lord Northcrest might just be the most hated man to ever take up the position of Baron. Greedy, corrupt and willing to do whatever it takes to remain in power, Lord Northcrest is a man to be reckoned with thanks to his vast resources and command over the militia of the City.

The Thief Taker General

The Baron may be a dirty leader, but it’s the Thief Taker General who gets his hands dirty in the city. Violent and completely corrupt, the Thief Taker General is driven by one goal in life, and that’s to capture the master thief himself, Garrett.

Able to use fear as a weapon just as easily as he is able to fire a crossbow, the Thief Taker General  is an even bigger robber than the criminals he professes to hunt down for the good of the city.

His black tax keeps the underworld in check, while he also regularly strips the Gloom-stricken dead of all their valuables and sends them into the next life completely penniless.

Xiao Xiao

Xiao Xiao

For the right price, any desire can be satisfied in Madame Xiao Xiao’s House of Blossoms. A home of the finest ladies of the night, the right amount of coin can buy you a night to remember, but it’s secrets and favours that are the real currency that Xiao Xiao seeks.

The Queen of Beggars

City3

Even the poorest inhabitants of the City have some form of monarchy, and it’s the Queen of Beggars who reigns over them.

Nobody knows her real age, but some say that she was there when the City was built and that she’ll still be alive when the last brick crumbles and becomes dust. Seemingly blind, rumours persist that the numerous rats that scurry through the City are her true eyes and that her years of wisdom are something to be treasured.

Orion

Orion

The City and it’s populace are suffering. The rule of the Baron is corrupt and heavy-handed, with the sickness robbing them of any other joys in life. Rebellion is brewing, and the people have found a voice in Orion, who leads the Graven who fights back against the tyranny of the Baron and his militia.

Speaking in general, it saddens me that so many ill informed will say that Thief copied Dishonored. But yea, this particular character design has a major resemblance.
