These are your October PlayStation Plus Games

There’s really very little reason not be a PlayStation Plus subscriber provided you have uncapped internet and a heck of a lot of free storage space on your PS3 and/or PlayStation Vita. Or you just hate having a ton of games to play. Since it’s inception, it’s been providing cheapskates gamers with a library of great games for very little money; an annual subscription that costs less than one new game at retail. October’s games don’t change that.

Here’s what you’ll be able to download and play for free if you subscribe to PS Plus.

PS3:
Far Cry 3
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen

PS Vita:
Street Fighter X Tekken
Touch My Katamari

Yes, one of last year’s very best games, Far Cry 3, along with the marmite game Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen as well as the delightful, beautiful (and difficult) Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams will be hitting your PS3, while crossover fighter Street fighter X Tekken and touchy-rolly Touch-My Katamari will grace your Vita.

By contrast, Xbox Live Gold Members get to enjoy the 2006 smash hit, Rainbow Six Vegas as their freebie this month. Hooray!

2007 was better, we won the world cup. Maybe release a game from then. Or maybe one from 1995?

I kind of imagine Umar sounding like Batman. I hope I won’t be disappointed.

I might buy a XBOX still. They might even release Duken Nukem 3D by chance if they keep insisting on giving away oldies.

I can just seem Microsoft releasing Fifa 08 for free with Gold with Games, because that’s how they roll! Have to love the big M, their execs have no clue what gamers want.

Agreed, but they know what they want. PROFITS. Give gamers almost nothing but take from them everything.

The biggest difference between PSN and Live, besides the quality of the content, is PSN is a rental service, and with Live you get the game forever. That helps, because I really want to play old games forever… oh wait…
My only problem with PSN plus this month is that I finally finished FarCry3 last night. I’m not going to start it again 😛 Other than that, I’ve pretty much stopped buying games because of PSN… 😀

Games for Gold is an insult. If you’re going to implement a similar service then do it with conviction. Throw in some quality games and deals and blow the competition away. Instead we get crap like Magic 2013…

I mean what a steaming ball of crap! Last month wasn’t better either. I can see some xbots arguing the rental vs own argument, and yet with PSN+ you can re-enable your games once you resub.

my only issue with PSN is that it doesn’t survive power cuts.
jhb has been hit a few times, and my downloads would correctly resume, only to find out that when complete, the installer is corrupted.

it’s happened more than once where ive waited a week for a massive download to complete, only to have to do it again. I just started my 3rd attempt at downloading AC3 (12GB!)

That really sucks Milesh. 🙁 In Cape Town, we haven’t had a power cut in years (knock on wood). Good thing too, because I think the last rolling blackouts were responsible for my PC’s demise…

Meanwhile on Xbox 360, expect… another free 6 year old game or a title from 2008 that failed miserably… Because at Microsoft… we care for our customers!

Actually no. The rest of the world got Vegas Six. South Africa got Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts – which was a replace for Shadowrun which was a replacement for Vegas Six. Sigh. http://www.el33tonline.com/post/2013/09/12/banjo-kazooie-nuts-bolts-replacing-shadowrun-as-next-xbox-live-games-with-gold-freebie-in-south-africa/
