This is what you get inside the PlayStation 4 box

Sony’s done a great job of keeping a lid on all the PS4 features and contents until it decides to tell the world but for once something has leaked and it’s not all great.

Let’s take a look at what you will receive if you are pre-ordering a PlayStation 4 for later this year.

PS4-Box-Content-670x446

First off we see that once again we have an internal power brick which is fantastic news. We are also getting one controller, an HDMI cable and a USB cable bundled in.

So far so good.. but what is that ugly cheap looking earpiece thing?

Time for a closer look

PS4-Headset-1024x682

Look how cheap and nasty that thing looks, I was all excited when I heard that the PlayStation 4 would finally be bundling a headset but come on Sony that is the cheapest nastiest looking headset I’ve seen in a very long time.

I’m trying to think of a positive spin to end the article on… I guess they aren’t trying to kick SteelSeries and Turtle Beach out the market by releasing this? It’s something.

Personally, they could have just NOT included a headset of any kind. Xbox One aren’t. I would have preferred not getting a cheapie headset. It feels wasteful.

I’m fine with that headset – it’s bundled in for free and seems to have helped keep the console at a great price.

Probably 90% of people that will buy this already own headsets that will be fully compatible with the PS4. So it’s a nice thing for someone new to online gaming to have included in the box if they want to check out online.

And people with their 2000k xbox360 headsets will have to re-buy when they get the ONE lmao

I am not justifying it by pointing at MS. I am saying it is a freebie, so I am not complaining. And MS expects me to pay an extra $99 for my mic and sensors etc so that is not a freebie. It is a must.

no one is charging $99 for a headset.

MS are giving you a kinect system for 99$ that has the added function of a mic, so that makes it okay.

Xboxs call centre headset which isnt included looks like a upgrade from the ugly previous version.Which we all know has problems but the old one was incl not the new one.You would have to upgrade for another piece of MS things that dont work properly

    Cheap earpiece means cheaper console.

If you use headphones, it goes nicely over the ear with the earpiece in the ear.

If you like that around the ear blue tooth earpiece, then go buy one if you don’t already have one.

If you use a headset. can you see how easy it is to unplug and throw away the earpiece.

If you want the over the head earpiece with the mic down your throat while playing COD or FIFA on the Xbox One, then go buy one.

Sony is giving you the simple basic model. Sony is giving you the option to use what you want. Unlike Microsoft, where you would most likely have to go buy another Turtle Beach headset.

It’s all about ears. Can you hear me.
