IGN have put together a list of the top 10 games that have been released on the Xbox Live Arcade over the past 12 months.

Now these things are always up for debate but if you are jsut getting into the Arcade and are unsure which games to buy you can safely buy any of the top 5 titles without any worries what so ever.

So without further delay lets get onto that list.

10. R-type Dimensions (1200 points)
9. Duke Nukem 3D (800)
8.  Peggle (800)*
7. Banjo-Kazooie (1200)
6. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (1200)
5. Portal – Still Alive (1200)*
4. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 (800)
3.  Castle Crashers (1200)*
2. Bionic Commando: Rearmed (800)
1. Braid (1200)*

*The four marked above are my personal recommendations to anyone wanting to give the games a go.

So did they miss any absolute winners?

Personally i wouldn’t recommend Portal:Still Alive. 1200MSP is pretty pricey at current exchange rates (about R150). That’s almost as much as picking up a budget copy of The Orange Box. Why buy 1 game for R150 when you can get all 5 for R250-ish, maybe less if you check the forum classifieds.

Would love Braid. Still waiting for it to go on special.

Not a bad list, though I disagree with #2. I think Castle Crashers and Geo Wars 2 should both move up one space and Bionic Commando should drop down to fifth or sixth.

Portal: Still Alive isn’t the same game as the one in The Orange Box.
