While Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was an undeniably pretty game, the teaser trailer that was released just a few days ago has been causing quite a lot of buzz on forums and gaming sites with regards to whether or not the graphics were pre-rendered or real time.
When asked by Gamezine in an interview that addressed the question that so many have been discussing, Naughty Dog’s Lead Character Designer, Richard Diamant had the following to say:
“Yes, the trailer was all rendered real-time in our engine.”
Short and sweet and it gets the straight to the point but was that the same case for cutscenes in Drake’s Fortune?
Yes, it seems so. The original Uncharted used all of the same assets, from character models to textures in both the gameplay and cutscenes of the game.
The only real difference is that the cutscenes have slightly higher quality lighting and shadowin, meaning that the teaser is a pretty good indication of how the game will look when you are playing and should be a perfect example of how the cutscenes will look.

I do not doubt Naughty Dog. They are all kinds of awesome.

I almost skipped the first one because ive disliked almost every console shooter Ive ever played so far… but it was awesome and actually had a decent and involving plot and characters you could connect to.
