Do you want to see Watchmen in Injustice 2?

Well, do you? Because that’s the question that NetherRealm Studios boss Ed Boon is asking right now on Twitter. The first Injustice game was no stranger to guest stars, as it added the likes of Stephen Amell’s Arrow as a customisation option for Green Arrow, Scorpion from Mortal Kombat and Lobo to the roster over the course of several months following its initial release.

But there’s a metric crap-load of other characters in the DC Universe, heroes and villains that NetherRealm could draw inspiration from. Or they could actually listen to me and include Bat-Mite in Injustice 2 and the world would be perfect at long last. But Watchmen presents an interesting idea. Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s seminal deconstruction on the state of superhero comics in the late 1980s is still fantastic to read and brilliant to watch if you have the Zack Snyder cut of that underrated cinematic adaptation.

But slotting the Watchmen into Injustice 2? Now that could be interesting. Because beyond Doctor Manhattan, none of the other characters have any actual superpowers. The likes of Rorsarch, NiteOwl and Silk Spectre are all hardened fighters with plenty of experience on the streets, but Doctor Manhattan is basically a god who possesses an unheard of level of omniscience. Seriously, take a gander at his power set below:

Vote-or-die

  • Nigh-omnipotence
  • Chronokinesis
  • Precognition
  • Molecular reconstruction
  • Disintegration
  • Regeneration
  • Energy projection
  • Force field constructs
  • Energy constructs
  • Flight
  • Immortality
  • Superhuman strength
  • Superhuman durability
  • Telekinesis
  • Intangibility
  • Teleportation
  • Size alteration
  • Bio-Fusion
  • Reality Alteration
  • Cosmic awareness
  • A really massive blue dong no really if he turned out around too quickly it would probably be a time-breaking extinction event and maybe that’s what really killed the dinosaurs

Just from a design standpoint, I’d love to see those chronal powers implemented in Injustice 2. Imagine how much of an absolute bastard Doctor Manhattan could be when used against players who enjoy having a certain flow of battle that they can react to. Doc Manhattan’s skillset would make him an absolute master of the battlefield.

If NetherRealm decides to throw him into Injustice 2, that is.
