The developers of the highly underrated Batman: Arkham Origins have confirmed that their next project is indeed part of the DC franchise.

There’s been a lot of speculation as to what WB Montreal has been hard at work on over the past six years and although we don’t get know the specifics, we’re starting to get a better idea of what that project might involve. Ever since they wrapped work on Arkham Origins, a game that many consider to be a disappointment and exists outside of the canon of the Rocksteady Arkham trilogy, WB Montreal have been surprisingly quiet regarding the next step for the studio, and while they continue to be cagey regarding the details, we’ve at least had confirmation that the game will indeed be based in the DC Universe.

A Twitter post by Osama Dorias, a designer over at WB Montreal, confirmed the game’s comic book themes in a thread that saw developers answering some small questions about their upcoming projects. Dorias noted that the “genre” and “inspiration” for the game are both “[redacted]” but did confirm that the “theme” was DC Universe, the first confirmation we’ve had regarding the subject matter of their next game. Rumours have been floating around for years now that WB Montreal is working on another Arkham game that will be based on the Court of Owls storyline, but we’ve yet to receive any solid confirmation regarding these whisperings.

I for one hope this next project isn’t Batman related and instead looks into some of the more obscure DC characters that need some time in the spotlight. The Arkham Trilogy wrapped up really tightly in the end and going back to it after such a conclusive ending feels like beating a dead horse. Give the Doom Patrol a game, you cowards!

They did Deathstroke perfectly, the way he controlled in the game. A full (R-Rated) Deathstroke game is what we never knew we wanted.
