Board games these days, are no longer bored games. Whatever your passion, there’s a board game waiting for you. For me, that passion happens to involve paranormal investigation, capture, confinement and charging exorbitant fees for my services. Which I totally deserve, because Tokolshes are class 5 free-repeaters with a nasty bite, let me tell ya. If you’ve ever wanted to be a Ghostbuster, but find that too many people laugh at your vintage toy Proton Pack, then here’s the next best thing: An official Ghostbusters board game from Cryptozoic Entertainment.
Currently on Kickstarter, the Ghostbuster board game is pretty much almost completely funded.It’s sitting on $233 967, out of a goal of $250 000 after a mere day of going live. That’s not shabby at all. Officially licensed by Sony, Ghostbusters: the Board Game will feature an episodic adventure that has players busting spooks as one either Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler or Winston Zeddemore. Based on their current look in the IDW comics drawn by Dan Schoening, each Ghostbuster comes equipped with their personal ghost-catching equipment.
As for what’s in the box, players get the following:
- 4 Ghostbuster figures
- 3 Boss figures (Slimer, Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man,Idulnas)
- 20 Galloping Ghoul figures
- 12 Gruesome Twosome figures
- 8 Boogaloo Manifestation figures
- Six dice
- 43 tokens
- PKE Meter
- Four player cards
- 10 Game board tiles
- Six ghost cards
The game will be available in base and deluxe versions, that cost $80 and $125. The deluxe version throws in a Sandman boss and ghost card, four double-sided Sedgewick Hotel game board tiles, glow-in-the-dark dice and a super sized Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and additional playable episodes. According to Cryptozoic, the game will have a fast pace, with episodes taking around 30 minutes to complete, before players conclude them by fighting a boss battle. More challenging episodes can last up to two hours apparently. And I freakin’ dig it so far. The figures look great, the boards look detailed and the nostalgia factor is riding high with me.
Now if I only I had some actual friends to play the game with.

Guys, WOAH, back it up… Cryptozoic games do shitty licensed stuff, At best, the get mediocre ratings on boardgamegeek. STAY AWAY!
