According to a Credit Suisse, the Nintendo has dropped the Wii’s launch production costs by a staggering 45%. You’ll note, of course that the local price of Nintendo’s market- dominating unhighdef console has increased from it’s launch price of R2899 to it’s current, silly price of R3499.
Generally, when production costs of any piece of electronics decreases, so to does its retail price, passing the saving on to the consumer. Not the case with Nintendo, who’ve easily been the most profitable this generation. Word is the European price is set to increase.
Of course, with the general populace still buying the thing en masse, Nintendo doesn’t really have much incentive to lower the price. Or give core gamers the games they’ve been waiting for.

Why should Nintendo drop price of the wii when people fooled into buying a console with last-gen graphics, an overpriced controller, badly made games just because it’s socially popular and accepted… I wee on the wii
