Will Grand Theft Auto 5 be announced at Gamescom?

GTA5 hasn’t been announced but it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that Rockstar are going to be releasing another GTA title in the relatively near future.

At the moment we are still waiting for final details on Rockstar’s two other titles, L.A. Noire and Agent but in all reality neither of those titles have the pulling power of GTA.

Earlier this year we expected GTA5 to be announced at E3 but in the weeks running up to E3 Rockstar announced that they will have no presence on the show floor, though I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that they were there.

But with no official presence there was no chance of a major announcement, however all that can change at Gamescom this year.

Gamescom is a larger gaming show by numbers but is not nearly as big as E3 in industry terms, which means that Rockstar can steal the show by announcing the next title in the GTA series with very little worry about being overshadowed by a new Xbox 360, Kinect, Move or the 3DS.

Oh and did I forget to mention that Rockstar has an official presence at Gamescom.

Gamescom starts on Thursday and you’ll be able to find all the information you need to know right here.

*Any bets on GTA5 being set in Hollywood? Back to San Andreas…
