The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition is out now

5 min read

Today, the Witcher 3’s Game of the Year Edition is out – giving those who have yet to experience Geralt of Rivia’s last hurrah a bash. It’s one of the finest games this generation’s produced thus far, turning developer CD Projekt RED in to a champion for quality, and making them a heck of a lot of money in the process.

Said Game of the Year Edition has a nice launch trailer available to entice those of you who haven’t played it to give it your consideration. It’ll also likely make those of you who have played it want to do so all over again.

Says the press release:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Game of the Year Edition offers over 150 hours of story-driven open world adventures, including the critically acclaimed base game, winner of over 250 GOTY awards and most lauded game of 2015 with over 800 awards in total and both expansion packs — Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. This edition also comes with every piece of downloadable content, as well as every update and improvement ever released.”

And for those of you who have the game but aren’t getting the newer Game of the Year Edition? CDPR is patching the game up.

Here’s what patch 1.30 introduces, fixes and changes. That’s some decent post-launch support.

  • Vimme Vivaldi is now sporting a fresh look.

  • Fixes issue whereby oil descriptions were not removed from swords.
  • Fixes issue whereby it was not possible to obtain certain dye recipes.
  • Fixes issue whereby it was possible to skip the entire second phase of the Eredin fight.

  • For those affected by this issue, swapping saddles, saving the game and then loading that save is recommended.
  • Adjusts the maximum level for items, quests and NPCs to address level requirement discrepancies if player started NG+ on a very high level. Item and quest maximum level is now 100. NPCs maximum level is 105.
  • Corrects the statistics of the Hen Gaidth and Tesham Mutna sets in New Game + mode.
  • Fixes issue whereby the Toussaint Knight’s Steel Sword Diagram was not added to the crafting page after looting it.

I really wanna pick this up again and play it. But I deleted it from my PS, so all those updates need to run again.
Might be a better idea to just pick up the GOTY and have all the DLC in there as well.

I’ll just do the “upgrade to GOTY” that you can usually do on Steam with big titles.

Would be sweet if they have that for this as well

This game is almost as good as Pokemon Go.

Darnit! If only the GOTY were available on Steam, I would be able to use the refunded money from No Man’s Sky to buy it.

Wait, I am confused with that game of the year trailer…

Geralt hits one of the witches of the wild and she runs away and he throws his sword into her…. WTF does that happen or is it part of one of the DLCs?

I have played through the game twice now and I did not see that happening .. ?
