We reported a few days back that the biggest electronics store in Japan had sold out of the Xbox 360, well now the entire country has officially sold out.
That’s right, the Xbox 360 has become a hugely sought after item all of a sudden in Japan and the stocks are just not keeping up.
Microsoft has released an official statement about the shortage and is promising that more consoles are on the way. Hell you can bet the guys at Microsoft are pumping out Japanese consoles as fast as they possibly can.
No one is expecting this to last forever so they need to ride the wave as long as they can.

So the 1000 they had in retail sold out? It’s a start I suppose. Sure hope that ship with the other 1000 makes it to their shores before weekend! 😛

wow, this is strange, because they not releasing any numbers, and so all that leaves the mind to wonder that there really was only around 1000 units sold

No Microsoft never release numbers like this.
However according to the last stats from Japan over 26000 Xbox’s were sold in the previous week. That is all we know right now.

I think they sell about 6000 units a week, but a couple of weeks ago they sold over 20,000 for a few wees and that’s what depleted the stock.
Considering how desperate MS are to get into Japan i’m disappointed that they would let this happen.

It’s good to see the XBOX doing better in Japan… It’s not a bad console and I always felt bad looking at the sales figures for the Japan Region… 🙂

Good on them. Hopefully this will be the start of something new over there.
