$199 Xbox 360

Microsoft has serious problems trying to keep things secret with their latest big secret being released about two weeks ago by Internet sites all over the planet.

Well Major Nelson has now come out and confirmed that the $199 Xbox 360 Arcade is in fact arriving and it is arriving 2 days earlier than expected.

As of the 5th of September (tomorrow) the US prices will drop to the following.

Arcade = $199 (-$80)
Pro = $299 (-$50)
Elite = $399 (-$50)

Though don’t expect a local price cut as our local prices are pretty much inline with these new US prices anyway. The big question however is whether or not the price cut will boost sales incredibly or not.

As they say in the States… Game On…

    I feel sorry for the console makers, it is corporate suicide to announce a price drop even a week before the actual units go on sale.

    Keeping these things secret is nigh impossible in this day and age.
    No wonder they brought the date forward.

    Would it be too much to ask for a price cut locally for things
    such as hard drives and controllers? 🙁 Apparently yes seems
    to be the answer.
