Xbox 360 takes Japan – this is not a drill

Xbox 360 wins in Japan The loons may all be right, the world may in fact be ending.

We posted a few weeks back that the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan and then ran out of stock.

The worldwide belief was that the Japanese had finally found a game they liked and it was just going to be a blip on the radar.

Well if that was a blip this is a mountain.

The Xbox 360 has just outsold the PS3 again… it has also outsold the Nintendo Wii.

Yes, the Xbox 360 is currently the best selling next gen console in Japan with sales of 28 681 ahead of the Wii with 27 057 and way ahead of the PS3 with 8 050 units.

There is no great reason for this current explosion and while some of it can be put down to the release of Infinite Discovery the rest has to be put down to the 360 actually being taken seriously in the land of the rising sun.

The PS3 is currently 2.6 million ahead of the 360 in Japan so no there is little chance of it losing that lead anytime soon.
