One of the most anticipated features of the Xbox One is the ability to troll your friends and family by turning it off with your voice as you saunter past. However it looks like this premium feature is no longer an Xbox One exclusive with Sony revealing that it’s limited voice command technology will also allow you to turn the PlayStation 4 off with just your sexy voice.
In an interview with Polygon, Toshi Aoki from the PlayStation 4 hardware team, has confirmed that if you have the PS4 camera connected you can turn off the console with your voice.
All you need to do is say “Power” and then a power menu will appear from which you can then turn off the console or put it into standby mode. You can also tell the console to take a screenshot and login with your voice.
Exactly how it works and whether you have keywords to notify the console that you are talking to it hasn’t yet been revealed.
Personally it sounds a little sluggish right now but I’m going to put that down to a language barrier right now and will wait until release to see exactly how it compares to the ‘apparently’ slick Xbox One implementation.
Apparently the API will be given over to developers soon enough but as with the Kinect on the Xbox 360 since every PS4 won’t be able to take advantage of the technology I wouldn’t expect anything exciting to be made for it.

My mom just unplugged the thing, then took a knife to the plug. IF I earned the TV rights again, I had to put the plug back on myself.
