GTA V is the current open-world obsession, but that’ll be changing next month with the release of Watch Dogs, the stealthy, hack-centric one-word game from Ubisoft. At least, it will change for PC gamers, because this one is actually coming to their platform of choice.  And here’s what you’ll need to play it on Pc, as spotted by the perpetually eagle-eyed NeoGAF.

It was listed un Uplay, before being summarily yanked, but not before GAF got hold of the specs for posterity.

Here are the specs in full:

Base spec:

  • Operating System: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8
  • Note that we only support 64 bit OSs.
  • DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM Dual Layer
  • Hard Drive Space: 20 GB
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers
  • Internet: Broadband connection and service required for multiplayer mode

Minimum Spec:

  • GPU: DirectX 11 graphics card with 1 GB Video RAM
  • CPU: Quad core
  • RAM: 4GB

Example 1

  • GPU: NVidia GTX 460
  • CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600

Example 2

  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5770
  • CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9750

Recommended Spec:

  • GPU: DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM
  • CPU: Eight core
  • RAM: 8GB

Example 1

  • GPU: NVidia GTX 560 ti
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770

Example 2

  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7850
  • CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core

Ultra Spec:

  • GPU: Latest DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM or more
  • CPU: Latest Eight core or more
  • RAM: 8GB or more

Example 1

  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 670
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K

Example 2

  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970
  • CPU: AMD FX-9370 Eight-Core

What’s interesting to note here, beyond the beefy CPU (but relatively relaxed GPU) requirements is that the game only supports 64 bit systems; so you’ll need to upgrade if for some reason you’re still rocking out with a 32-bit OS. Also interesting? you’re going to need an octo-core CPU for ultra performance. Plus, the game will support 4K gaming; so will look incredible if you have the requisite hardware..and a ludicrously expensive screen.

It’s one of the first lots of Pc specs in a while that actually recommend some heavy specs. Is this the first real next-gen game?  Will we all be benchmarking with Watch Dogs in the future?

To be fair, I’m not into the Master Race thing. I have an Xbox 360 and a PC. And I plan on buying a PS4 or Xbone next year when more games are out and I can compare them more directly.

Just for now, this christmas, a pc upgrade is a much better bet. I was smart enough to buy the 3770k with 16gb’s of ram when I bought a new computer last year. Now, just the graphics I need to update. It’s a much cheaper option, and as I said below, for the price of a PS4, I can get a graphics card, Watch Dogs, a 3DS AND pokemon X or Y.

I completely understand. In the end we all love gaming and want maximum value for our money. I’m not into PC gaming (mostly because my PC is unable to play any games at this stage and requires a MASSIVE upgrade) and that’s why I’m buying a PS4. I was just giving the PC games grief since they always give the “master race” comment on the console news pages.

            October 3, 2013 at 16:27

Yeah man I know the feeling. I had an 8 year old machine that wasn’t able to play anything released for 3 years until I upgraded last year. Whole new machine, wasn’t cheap at all. In that case, I’d go with the PS4 as well, so yep.

          • ToshZA

            October 3, 2013 at 15:23

Only by around 5% faster, and considering the new recording tech (on the 760 – allowing me to use fraps without frame rate issues) and the high quality build and standard overlock on the gaming card, it’s just a nicer overall package. If raw performance was the only thing counting though, the 670 does come out on top.

Well, I’ve got the 7970, & 16Gb of RAM, so I’m sorted there. The processor may be a bit light though, given it’s an i5-3570K. I’ve yet to OC it though, so maybe I can manage ultra with a decent framerate still……

What they mean by ultra is ultra settings at 1080 + full AA and SSAO and all the fancy bells and whistles.

I’m sure a 670 – 770 range card will run on utlra. Just not with AA and all that jazz turned on

Yea, I know that ultra resembles all those features, but those are all GPU related. Still don’t see the need for such a beefy CPU. Ran Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution, BF3, Max Payne 3 etc, all buttery smooth on ultra settings, albeit with FXAA (which I favor more than MSAA). I know Watch Dogs is in an entirely different league, but again, the feature mostly relate to GPU. Oh well. Will still need an upgrade in due time anyway.

The only spec i care about for PC titles is DRM or No DRM. So because of UPLAY my interest level for this game is at ZERO.

Plus I do not understand why people are so interested in this game. I can understand why this game is a wet dream for the NSA. The funny thing is, that you can spy on NPC’s in the game and Ubisoft and the NSA is going to spy on you through UPLAY.

The game in-tails pushing a button to do everything and and to spy on NPC’s , and from gameply vids it looks really boring to me.

My HD 7970 is waiting for the The Witcher 3.

Do Not Support DRM and the NSA. Never trust the French (Ubisoft).
