We may finally get a worthy sequel to the original if this new trailer for the animated Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars is anything to go by.

The live-action Starship Trooper sequels are trash. They’re low budget, lack any of the subtle commentary of the original film and they’re cheaper than Chinese knock-off Nik Naks. 2012’s Starship Troopers: Invasion however? Now that’s a movie which may have lacked the commentary of the original, but made up for it by upping the action with some delightful CG animation.That was five years ago, and it’s about damn time that a sequel was made. Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars is the upcoming animated feature that's a sequel to 2012's Starship Troopers: Invasion. The grizzled and recently-demoted Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) has to defend Mars with a bunch of raw recruits when the Bugs launch a surprise attack on the red planet.
