By Nick De Bruyne

The Sci-Fi channel is going to be airing a Gears of War 2 documentary about Delta Squad this Friday. The preview is looking really great and seems to go quite in depth on a lot of the characters and the roles that they play in the game. They also discuss the locust attack as well as the entire story in general.

Gears of War 2 Reality Show – Sad

By Nick De Bruyne
November 4, 2008

This is sad. A reality TV show is coming to Spike in the US and is going to be "based" on Gear of War 2. The show will have two teams going through hell and performing acts from the game as well as learning to work together as team. If you ask me, this is nothing more than a seriously lame cash-in on the franchises success as well as nothing more than a promotional tool to sell the game, as it is airing the day before Gears of War 2's release. It doesn't really look like its going to be anything like the game and I really think that Epic has sold out on this one.

NXE to shove DLC down our throats?

By Nick De Bruyne

NXEdlc.jpg There is currently a popular story doing the rounds about how Epic Games think that Microsoft is winning the online battle due to their added content. In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Epic's Mike Capps says that it's due to Microsoft's policy of adding of constantly "adding cool stuff". That's all good and well but it's the next part of the interview that got my interest. More after the jump. He goes on to say the that: "But I love the fact that you boot through the dashboard now - I understand how some gamers might not like it so much, but that's how you join into the Xbox Live experience - your dashboard comes up, you get to see what's new, hey, there's some free stuff you didn't know about - instead of just booting into your game and missing the community." It never ceases to amaze me how people can so easily soften words to try and make something hugely profitable look like it is something that has been done as a favour to us, the gamers. He speaks about missing the community and seeing that there is free stuff available, when in truth, it's actually just all about pushing as much money-making DLC down our throats as possible. This reminds me of the famous quote, "out of sight, out of mind".

Gears of War 2 – Multiplayer Level Montage

By Nick De Bruyne

Only 4 sleepies left until Gears of War 2 hits the shelves and indeed most of our disc drivers. To help ease the pain of the wait, or for that matter, possibly make it worse, we have a montage of a lot of the multiplayer maps, courtesy of IGN. The wait is almost finally over for the sequel to Microsoft's big hit of 2006. The only thing easing my pain at the moment is the barrage of big titles that came out this previous weekend.

This latest developer diary from Epic doesn't really focus on anything specific but rather talks about a lot of the different aspects that make up the game. They also discuss the fans and the media as well as what they are doing to try improve the game as well as attract new audiences. Just a week and a bit left till the destruction begins and these videos aren't helping to make the wait go quicker.

New Gears of War 2 TV Spot

By Nick De Bruyne

A new TV spot for Gears of War 2 aired today in the United States titled "Last Day". Keeping with the feeling of the Mad World trailer that was released for the original Gears of War, the trailer plays out with sombre tunes and muted tones, the beginning really is quite lovely. It's obvious that by now the hype for Gears of War 2 has reached a mad height. Xbox Live friends lists are sitting chock and block with people all playing the original Gears of War again so that they can brush up on their skills or only just because they need to play the closest thing that they can find to the sequel. It's time has nearly come. November 7th draws nearer and all we can do is wait. It's a good thing so many good games are coming out today, they will help ease the pain.

Gears 2 Flashback Map Comparison

By Nick De Bruyne
October 16, 2008
in :  Gaming

As most of you know, Gears of War 2 will be releasing with a code that will allow gamers to download the Flashback Map Pack that contains remade versions of maps from the original Gears of War. While we already knew about Gridlock, the new maps also include Tyro Station, Subway, Canals and Mansion. While having the older maps back is a great and all, I didn't fully understand how incredible they were going to look. Canals in the snow and Mansion without all of the stormy weather? Looking mighty fine. Don't believe me? Then check out all of the comparison images after the jump.
