A follow-up to 1980s cult classic The Last Starfighter has been banging around Hollywood for years, but maybe it will finally happen thanks to this great concept art sizzle reel from Rogue One writer Gary Whitta.

Talks of a revival of cheesy 80s sci-fi classic The Last Starfighter have been swirling for a few years now with not much to show for it. But now original writer Jonathan R. Betuel is setting the record straight as he reveals that work is finally set to begin.

After many unsuccessful attempts by filmmakers to convince the screenwriter of 80s classic The Last Starfighter to take a new crack at his creation, Rogue One screenwriter Gary Whitta has finally made some significant progress and he has the concept art to prove it!

Comic book films have come a long way since Stallone's awful Judge Dredd adaptation. Let's hope he keeps up today's high standards with a possible starring role in Mark Millar's Starlight.
