Mirrors Edge recreated in LBP

By Nick De Bruyne

It really is quite fantastic to see all of the creative levels that are coming out of LittleBigPlanet since the beta was released (penis levels aside). This latest level created and put up on YouTube shows a level created to mimic the look and layout of the Mirrors Edge gameplay video that was shown off a little while back. The user has genuinely created a really good recreation of the level, with cable slides and all. To think, these are only the levels being made by those who have had time with the beta. I am sure that once the full game is released, we are going to be seeing an absolute ton of really cool and original levels. LittleBigPlanet has to be commended for giving gamers such a great tool to create with and enjoy.

Far Cry 2 goes gold – and Lazygamer was the first site in the world to know about it

News has finally started getting around the internet that Far Cry 2 has officially gone gold. The real kicker for us is that Lazygamer was the first site in the world to know about it.... The fact of the matter is simply that I happened to be sitting having dinner with Far Cry 2 developers Clint Hocking and LP Pharand when they received the message that the Xbox 360 version had officially gone into production.... Not only that but we have some very interesting info on how the Far Cry 2 DRM will work on PC.... After the news reached them and the excited congratulatory handshake between the two of them was done, I asked if I could, you know, tell the world. I was unfortunately asked to wait for the official press release to come out, so the scoop was unscooped due to it being something that was considered "off the record". It was exciting news to hear first hand though and keeping it to myself was a pretty tough job in itself. They were obviously waiting for all of the versions to go gold before making their announcement. With regards to the DRM on PC, a Ubisoft Forum manager has posted up the details on the Ubi Forums. He says the following: "Some DRM points that will hopefully answer some of your questions and will clarify some misunderstandings about our DRM and SecuROM: - You have 5 activations on 3 separate PCs.... This process is called “revoke”, so as long as you complete proper uninstall you will be able to install the game an unlimited number of times on 3 systems. - You can upgrade your computer as many time as you want (using our revoke system) - Ubisoft is committed to the support of our games, and additional activations can be provided. - Ubisoft is committed to the long term support of our games: you’ll always be able to play Far Cry 2." This is a pretty interesting system of security and I think it may be a step in the right direction considering that it really does give gamers a lot of freedom to install and uninstall the game over a few different systems.... But that is that, it's gold, which means that we are one step closer to burning up half of the African savannah.

Along with various other additions and improvements, Sony have announced that the new 2.50 Firmware for the Playstation 3 is going to add support for Flash 9. Welcome to a world of Youtube, Flash games and tons of annoying adverts! But seriously, this is going to be a fantastic addition, especially with the fact that Sony has now officially launched a YouTube channel specifically for the PS3. A list of additional improvements, after the jump. * Pads and the PS3 itself now have tweakable power-save settings for turning off after a period of inactivity. * You can tell the PS3 to power down once it's finished downloading or installing content. * In-game screenshots can be taken in compatible games. * It enables high-quality mode for the official PS3 Bluetooth headset. * The Trophy interface has been improved, so you can see you and your friends' progress more easily. * Friends now have their last login time listed. * Videos now have a scene search feature. * There's a button on the PlayStation Store frontpage for redeeming codes.

New Killzone 2 Gameplay Footage – Cam

By Nick De Bruyne

Some new footage of the Killzone 2 campaign has made its way onto the internet thanks to some random guy and a camera at the Tokyo Game Show. After watching this video, I don't think that it is even remotely necessary to actually talk about how incredibly good this game is looking, but I am going to do it anyway. The visuals are looking absolutely stunning and the gameplay looks like it is going to be a lot of faced paced action mayhem. Sure it may look a little like the love-child of Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 but that doesn't change the fact that its looking magnificent. This game may just give Resistance 2 a swift and solid kick in the pants when it is released. Playstation 3 owners... what say you? Hot or Not?

New Infamous Screenshots – Wow

By Nick De Bruyne

A whole bunch of new screenshots have become available and all I can say is "Wow". This game is looking really impressive and if the screenshots are anything to go by then we can safely say that we have a high quality game on the way. I have put the screenshots after the jump, so be sure to check them out. Eye-Candy at it's best. Once again, the graphics are only one thing and if the developers can add the same level of quality to the gameplay and story, we are all going to be in for quite a treat. Crackdown proved that a game can be highly entertaining on the fun factor alone, considering that it basically didn't really even have a story. This game is looking like The Crackdown Unleashed and in my books, that cannot be a bad thing. Should the PS3 be kept alive by Blu-Ray?

By Gavin Mannion
October 15, 2008
in :  Gaming

I stumbled across an article this morning implying that the PS3 was fast on it’s way to coming stone last in this generation and it was mentioned that their saving light would be to position the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player that can play games and not the other way around. They could then heavily market it towards the electronics …

Quantum of Solace: What do you think?

By Nick De Bruyne
October 14, 2008

Quantum of Solace is being hailed as the best 007 game to see a console since GoldenEye captured the hearts of so many Nintendo 64 owners. By utilising the Call of Duty 4 engine, they secured a good looking game that will most probably work really well, but is it enough? I quite like the idea of the 3rd and 1st person mixed gameplay but I am not entirely sure that I am fully sold on the game just yet. What do you guys think? Is it going to be a surprise title that shows us that licenses can still work well?
