Borderlands : The Secret Armory of General Knoxx Reviewed

Borderlands, the RPG loot-a-thon shooter from Gearbox and 2K has been pretty well supported with post-release content. The first, the Zombie Island of Dr Ned was an exercise in how to do self-contained episodic content right. The second, Mad Moxxie’s underdome riot was a less-than awesome arena mode. Let’s take a look at the latest add-on for the game, The …

The first God of War 3 review has been revealed by the Official Playstation Magazine (UK) and unsurprisingly the game is apparently very good. Apparently it missed out on the perfect 10 because, in the words of the reviewer, Nathan Ditum Last Updated: February 12, 2010

BioShock 2 Reviewed : The Seaweed is Always Greener

The first BioShock was a masterpiece – a story expertly crafted, punctuated by the objectivist philosophies of Ayn Rand. Its twisted, tortured dystopian under-sea setting was unique and interesting, its art-deco visuals – although ruinous – rich and sumptuous, and above all, its narrative compelling. Many gamers – such as myself -  felt a sequel to be unwarranted – that …

Hot or Not? Heavy Rain Meta-Madness

By Nick De Bruyne

The first reviews for Heavy Rain are rolling in and so I decided to give them all a look to see how things are going. A lot of the reviews are saying that Heavy Rain isn't really a game, but more of an interactive movie experience, and a lot are quick to point out that this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I must say that my excitement for Heavy Rain has been building up very steadily over the last couple of months and I can't wait to get my hands on the game. Let's have a look at how it's doing. The current Metacritic rating for Heavy Rain is sitting on 93/100 with its highest review score coming from the Official US Playstation Magazine with a sparkling 10/10. The lowest score comes from PSM3 Magazine UK who have given it an 88/100 and say that "It's essentially a nine-hour film that you nudge along by following on-screen button prompts, although you feel more connected with the action than this might suggest." Heavy Rain seems to be something new and different, which means that I am all for it. GamePro had the following to say about Heavy Rain, which I found quite interesting: It's barely a game in the popular sense of the word, but Quantic Dream's masterpiece makes groundbreaking strides in storytelling and character development, demonstrating that interactive entertainment still has a deep well of untapped potential. This game has really got me interested, even if people are saying that it's more of an interactive story than anything, I like where it's going. What about you guys? Who's getting it on day one? Anyone not interested or having second thoughts? Comment below.

Vancouver 2010 Reviewed – Stop, Collaborate and Listen.

Here in sunny South Africa we’re generally a sports-mad bunch. Many a Saturday afternoon is whiled away, sat around a screen, with beer and biltong consumed in disproportionate amounts. Where we falter in our enthusiasm is with regards to winter sports. This is, of course, mostly due to geography – but it’s hard to get excited when we, unlike Jamaica, …

Zero Punctuation: Left 4 Dead 2 and New Super Mario Bros Wii

By Gavin Mannion

It’s a double banger this week with Yahtzee reviewing both Left 4 Dead 2 and Super Mario Bros Wii. Remember now that the Left 4 Dead 2 in Yahtzee’s country is horribly gimped and an embarrassment to rational minded people everywhere, so with that in mind which one do you think he absolutely hated this week? Last Updated: December 11, …
