Flamebait Friday Debate – The Scariest Game You Have Ever Played

By Nick De Bruyne

As many of our avid readers know, I have garnered a reputation of being a super pink-underpants wearing pansy for not being able to finish Dead Space. Until I do finish it, I will have to happily live with that title, and that’s fair enough. I don’t usually have a massive problem with scary games, I actually really love them …

Question of the Week: Rage Blackout

By Nick De Bruyne

It's Monday again which means it's time for our Question of the Week! I want to thank everyone who contributed to last week's question, without your guys contribution this section wouldn't be possible. Some of the comments were hilarious and others were just plain creepy and I'm sure that all of us can relate to quite a few of those moments that had us hiding under our beds for weeks.... I think I am going to need to use a randomiser to pick winners from now on because I had such an incredibly tough time choosing my favorites with so many great stories. Okay now for this week's question: What game brings out the monster in you?... I'm sure that there are many of you who, just like me, don't care much about winning, high scores, owning noobs etc. Or maybe you are the type who only plays to win and needs to prove something to the gaming world, who knows? But no matter who you are, there is always that one game. You know the one, it's that one that has your controller/keyboard cringing in fear every time you boot it up. The one that makes you have to cover holes in the doors and walls with posters from your latest collectors edition, just so that visitors don't think you are a homicidal maniac with anger management problems. Tell us your story of anger and flying peripherals and hey, we promise not to call the cops.... The winners of last week's Question of the Week, in no particular order, are: 1.... Nazcanlines Anyone who gets so frightened of a game that he returns it to the store before even opening it deserves a prize.... We only have one copy of each and they are on a first come, first serve basis so please email me your choice as soon as possible to ensure that you get the one you want.... Unfortunately there are no prizes this week, but if our readers keep the Question of the Week section going then I will do all that I can to try and organise more prizes in future. (and if we get lucky, or a sponsor we may even be able to have prizes on a weekly basis so please keep those answers coming) As always, any suggestions for future questions of the week can be mailed to nick@lazygamer.co.za .

Question of the Week: Your scariest gaming experience ever

By Nick De Bruyne

Greetings boys and girls and welcome back to another horrible Monday at work, another week of office drudgery and indeed another week of gaming. To make Mondays seem a little brighter for everyone I have decided to make Monday the official host of our new Question of the Week section. What this is is pretty simple. We ask a question every week, usually involving gaming experiences and fun stuff. There will be nothing serious here to dampen your day so get ready to share your campfire stories. This section relies on you our readers to let give us your answers and opinions, tell us your stories and open up topics for discussion. If you are one of those people who have always been too shy to comment, or just purely not bothered, now is the time to speak up and tell us of your experience because to sweeten the deal and kick off the new section I have organised some prizes. We have very recently had a "comment spam" competition and we just happen to have an extra copy of Bioshock (PC) and DMC4 (Xbox 360) lying around which I have organised as prizes for this week. We will pick the two best, funniest or interesting stories and the winners will be announced next week (maybe sooner). This weeks question is of course: What has been your scariest gaming experience ever? I myself have been the victim of many a pant-wetting experience, from playing Friday the 13th on my 8-bit when I was but a child to having the living daylights scared out of me recently in Condemned 2. What experience have you had that has left an imprint on your gaming life and of indeed, your underpants. The type that had you going outside for ten minutes just to catch your breath again.... To avoid spoilers for other gamers, I suggest that you begin your comment with the title of the game first so that if someone hasn't played it or finished it yet they can just skip to the next one.] If you have any questions that you want to suggest for our question of the week feel free to email me at nick@lazygamer.co.za .
