In 2017, South African PlayStation users got slapped with a hefty PlayStation Plus increase. It brought the price of the annual subscription up to R899 from R749, the quarterly price up to R349 from R219, and the monthly price to R109 from R99. Now there are some big changes coming, lowering the price of quarterly and annual subscriptions, but – for some reason – increasing the cost of the monthly one.

FINISH HIM! Two words that don’t just define an era of gaming, but hold so much more value beyond their immediate association with the bloodiest fighting game ever conceived. It’s a rallying cry, a mantra of excellence and everything that fans loved about a certain franchise that would rise to the top of its genre and go beyond those limits …

Yes I know we’re a pop culture website but we’re also motivated by food over here. Most of it disastrously unhealthy and currently burning a path through our organs like weaponised thermite but I digress. If there’s one staple snack in the arsenal of any couch potato, it’s a packet of crispy chips. We all have our preference, whether it’s …

The international esports scene has not always been kind to South Africa. Over the years, teams that have gone overseas have often come back with very little to show. As a small scene that is still in its infancy, this is not surprising at all. However, there have been beacons of light such as Bravado’s CSGO team that has evolved …

Ubisoft, developer and publisher of bad-ass tactical shooter Rainbow Six siege, is filing suit against a company they claim is selling services that disrupt their networks through DDoS. Though the suit names multiple people from across the globe, it was filed in a California court last week. The suit alleges that the defendants operate a site called SNG.ONE, which sells …

We know that the upcoming next-generation Xbox will support the three previous generations of Xbox games. If you buy the new Xbox Series X (or the cheaper machine, whose name we don’t know just yet), you’ll be able to play existing Xbox One games, backwards compatible Xbox 360 games, and even supported Xbox Original games. will the PlayStation do similar?

E3 organiser issues a desperate statement on Sony’s absence from E3 this year, promises a “high-energy show”

In case you missed the news, Sony is skipping E3 again. Last year, Sony shocked the gaming world when the PlayStation maker decided that E3 wasn’t a necessary part of its marketing plans. Sony, dominant as they are, don’t really need a big three-day industry event to get the eyeballs on their games or their impending new hardware. In this hyper-connected world, it’s cheaper, easier and generally less stressful to just beam a video to the entire world; something Nintendo learned when they stopped hosting a great big press conference at E3 opting instead for their now adored Nintendo Directs.

Years ago, I loved LG’s mobile phones. They were trying to do interesting things with their devices – like including modular componenets like external speakers with battery packs, or include high-end DACS for audio enthusiasts and content creators. They were one of the first device manufacturers to push for phones with much lower body to screen rations and barely-there bezels. Unfortunately, against competition from Samsung and Huawei, they floundered.
