I know that this trailer is only for the map editor in Far Cry 2 but honestly, if this trailer doesn't sell you on the game then nothing will. Even though I have already seen the map editor being demoed, it really doesn't come close to seeing what you are actually going to be capable of making. That recreation of the pyramids was awesome and the rock statues were super cool as well. I don't think that I fully understand exactly how much can actually be done with this editor yet but I will tell you that I think it is going to change the way that it is an insanely great tool to get with a game. You however may thing that it's nothing but a novelty. What do you think? Awesome or nothing special?

We received a press release from Megarom with a list of all of the games they are going to be showing off at rAge this year and the list is looking mighty fine indeed. Megarom will be showing off games from publishers such as Activision, Ubisoft and Take 2. There are a lot of title in this list that I am looking forward to so I will be doing everything in my power to steal all of them from the Megarom stand at rAge. I hope their security is really bad, especially when I get there and ask the security guard to go and buy himself a R200 cup of coffee. Two of the Far Cry 2 developers and one EndWar developer will also be at the stand, so that will be a nice treat and is something that we South Africans don't usually get to experience. I wonder if they will help me carry the GH: World Tour instruments to my car? I mean, they are from Ubisoft not Activision, so I am sure they wouldn't mind. Many developers will go out of their way to try and pull gamers into their worlds. From artwork, graphics, sound and animation there are tons of different ways to make the player feel like he is actually running around in the virtual world that is laid out in front of him. This video of Far Cry 2 explains a few of the ways that the developers have tried to do all they can to keep you feeling completely immersed in the experience. I have played a few games over time that specifically kept you in the players head, even when cutscenes or animations are taking place and it really makes a difference. The latest of which is Condemned 2, by keeping the player inside the head of the character almost 100% of the time you really feel a certain physicality in the world, which helps that much more when something scary happens because it makes you really want to run for your sorry life. No need to mention how good this game is looking, it is quite apparent.
