Ding! That’s the sound of the bell being rung for our subscription friends with benefits. With Sony playing a strong hand in yesterday’s subscription membership poker, Microsoft has dealt a few cards of their own on the table. Depending on your tastes though, these cards may not be a straight line of aces when compared to Sony’s royal flush.

Look, I’m not just saying that the March edition of Xbox’s Games With Gold was brilliant because I have a full arm sleeve tattoo of Raiden fighting Metal Gear Ray, but hey! Having Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for free was a hell of a treat that made my Xbox Live subscription worthwhile. This month’s offerings in that department? MEH.

Another month, another round of games with which to justify the existence of your Xbox One! August is around the corner, and the games that’ll be available for the Xbox One with its Games With Gold service are looking…well pretty decent actually! Without further waffling, here’s the full list of what’s coming next month.

It’s nearly time for the holidays, which are a time of cheer and wonder. It would make sense then, for the free (feel free to insert your own inverted commas) that come with Xbox Games With Gold in December to inject a little of that Yuletide cheer. They’re not though – instead we have a dark co-op FPS, a middling adventure game and an entirely okay 3rd person hack and slash game.
