Happy Mortal Kombat X day! We know many of you are excited as we are, and… oh who am I kidding? You’re probably not reading this – you’re too busy playing the game! If you’re still around however, and have nothing better to do, I have a nice dose of nostalgia for you.

Do me a favour and watch this clip – the very original trailer for the first Mortal Kombat movie. Pay close attention and try not to bop your head too hard to that kickass soundtrack!

Man, the memories. I watched this movie as a kid and I wanted nothing more than to see Lui Kang shoot his fireball. He did eventually… kinda.

Anyways, now I want you to watch this amazing homemade version (via Game Informer):

I actually watched this a few days ago, but I saved it just for today. I giggled far too hard when I first saw it. They’ve recreated everything perfectly, using everything from bad wigs to cardboard cut-outs and action figures. If this doesn’t hype you for the game, then I don’t know what will.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to fight Geoff for a copy of the game. Apparently all I have to do is beat him. Damn…
