The new Xbox will be called “Xbox Infinity”

According to a report on a business reporting website in the UK the next Xbox, codenamed Durango, is officially going to be called Xbox Infinity. It was one of the first rumoured names for the system, followed by Xbox Fusion. It’s a pretty awesome name that covers all the aspects of what the next Xbox is expected to offer.

I also found a cool video of some guy, Duncan?, talking about what he thinks he knows about the Xbox Infinity and what we can expect to see.

XboxvsPS4

All in all the two consoles appear to be virtually even and it really will be down to pure software skills in the next generation.

So that’s all very exciting, intriguing and likely completely false.

The simple reason being that Microsoft want to announce the next Xbox in 11 days time and right now  Xboxinfinity.com  and xboxinfinity.net are both being squatted on by domain holding pages. And xboxinfinity.co.uk was picked up by someone who saw it was available when the name was first leaked. If Microsoft were going to call it the infinity these domain names would have been secured a long time ago.

Or Microsoft is being extra specially sneaky and actually owns them all already and is just trying to throw us off the trail… though I suspect they really have better things to be doing with their time.

So I’m guessing Infinity is an infinitely unlikely name for the next Xbox, which is a pity as I really like it.

I’m very surprised. Microsoft has been very quiet on this. It’s not like them to be so secretive Not to this degree anyway. I’m actually getting kind of curios and impatient now to find out.

I hope they don’t call it Infinity, does not have a good ring to it in my opinion

I was soooo happy when Sony announced it’s the PS4 and not the “Orbis”… Why change what works. I think MS must go call it XBOX 720, people already like and accepted that…

If you call something Infinity, what do you call the generation after that?

For me the PS4 and xbox whatever has basically the same specs PS4 just a little bit faster. At the end of the day the dev’s will develop for the slowest console so the extra power in the PS4 wont make a difference. I might be wrong but that is how I see it. I think that the games on both consoles will be the same from a spec viewpoint. What is clear is that peripherals will dictate the expiernace on both consoles and not specs.

According to that spec sheet, it seems as though the PS4 is much stronger?

    1. The flagship franchise for on-line is HALO 4 Infinity that will be in 5, 6, 7,
    2. once you go 360 you can keep going for infinity
    3. the new xbox is running on Windows 8, turn the 8 on its side for infinity
    4. with 8 gigs of RAM it will have infinite possibilities to update features to move with the times

Not a chance in heel they can come up with anything better than that.

I bet you all a muffin it is the Infinity.

8gb of DDR3 RAM for graphics would be paltry. Nobody knows as yet what the GPU will be packing.

Microsoft registered the Fusion domains. Random internet plebs squat the Infinity domains. It’s pretty clear where this is heading. http://www.xboxfusion.com
