It's not what this trailer for JOHN WICK did, it's who it did it to!

There’s a section in this first trailer for upcoming action flick John Wick, in which Keanu Reeves’ titular ex-hitman spouts a line of dialogue about getting a puppy from his late wife, but he’s delivery is so wooden that I expected there to be some kind of pop-up jingle declaring that “this portion of the trailer was brought to you by Timber City”. It’s absolutely painful to sit through. Luckily though, its not as painful-looking as all the non-stop kickass action that follows soon thereafter.

While the motivation for all this very cool looking violence seems almost laughable (although I would probably react the same way, if you messed with my dog), martial artist and stuntman turned first time feature film director Chad Stahelski really seems to know his way around some amazing action choreography. If the rest of the movie is even half as good as the gunplay on display here, then we might just be in for a… ahem… WICK-edly fun time at the movies.

An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. With New York City as his bullet-riddled playground, “John Wick” (Keanu Reeves) is a fresh and stylized take on the “assassin genre.”

John Wick also stars Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Dean Winters, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, John Leguizmo and Willem Dafoe. It is scheduled for release on October 24, 2014, but we’re going to have to wait until January 2, 2015 to get our local taste of some puppy revenge.
