Beyond: Two Souls will “surprise” By Geoffrey Tim Posted on November 13, 20122 min read0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain, was in my opinion, a rather exceptional interactive experience – though I’m not entirely sure it could really be called a game. There are fears that their next game, the rather incredible looking “Beyond: Two Souls” might similarly play out as a series of quick-time events. David Cage says that “Beyond” will surprise you."The game is very different from Heavy Rain, probably much more than people can imagine," Cage said in an interview with the PlayStation Blog."What we showed at E3 was in fact a working version based on the same interface as Heavy Rain, but it is not the final interface of the game."Like Heavy Rain, it’ll be an emotional experience – but one that’s balanced a little differently. "It’s a balance that will be a little different from Heavy Rain, where we [were] really aiming for the atmosphere of a psychological thriller. Beyond, of course, will also have these components of emotion, depth of characters, strong moments, but there will also be a more epic, dramatic dimension," said Cage.Cage is adamant that even for fans of Heavy Rain, Beyond will surprise. "For people who trust us and who loved Heavy Rain – we will surprise you, we will give you something you expect without even knowing that you were expecting it," he said. "I think it will be a real experience. We believe in it and we’re working hard for it. We are really surprised every day to see the game being born on the screens; it’s a real treat and a real surprise. I hope it has the same effect on the players."Beyond is set for release next year exclusively for the PS3, and will likely be one of the last new IP’s released for the system. I’ve had a close up look – and it left me pretty impressed. I also got to chat to Cage, and was surprised to find him likeable and incredibly passionate – and not the pretentious twat I’d always imagined.
