There are so many things that get in the way of playing games. Family obligations, social interactions and the need to eat and sleep are my main ones over the weekend. However, nothing stops us from playing games more than our day-to-day grind of employment or academics. Bethesda knows this, and they want you to be able to enjoy Fallout 4. So here is your get out of jail work free card. Not sure if your boss will accept it, though.
Pete Hines, who is totally not a doctor, has kindly written you an excuse for your “sick days” this week – recalling this similar one from Skyrim’s release:
I figure some of you might need a note from your doctor for your upcoming “sick day(s)” this week. So here you go. pic.twitter.com/iF9btGJl3h

This really is rather cute, and I like the thinking behind it, even if I’m not sure anyone actually uses these things. That said, plenty of people use their real leave days in order to play a game at launch. I’ve been inclined to do it, but never actually have. I think I’d just be irritated if I took days off only to be unable to finish the game in the time allocated. Or, imagine taking days off only for the game to be broken at launch? That would be my fear with any Bethesda title… or really any title on PC this year.
Have you ever taken leave for a game launch? How much leave is necessary, and was it worthwhile?

I’ve been looking everywhere to win a copy of this game. Only found one place but it’s for a Xbox one copy…

This is when being a freelancer is good. I can afford it and I don’t have to make excuses for playing it at launch ( But ask me how good it is to be a freelancer in the middle of the year and I will tell you I ponder suicide ).

Could also be a prediction of what is going to happen tomorrow. 😛
That being said they won’t have a massive log in as people have to decided between SC or Fallout. I am still not sure what I wanna play first.

I did that when Borderlands 2 was due… took a few days off, then it was delayed for a few days at the last minute. Never again.

I’ve used up all my sick days for major releases already, so I’m calling in dead for FallOut 4

PSA to all those people who have pre-ordered/plan on getting Fallout 4 for PC, it has been confirmed by lucky people who have received the game early on reddit (there is proof) that only about 5.2 GB of the game comes on a single disc (no multiple discs) the rest has to be downloaded from steam.
Seems like Bethesda thinks everyone in the World has super fast uncapped net. I am not trolling because I too am in this boat, not only will I have to buy extra bandwidth but with my line speed its gonna take a crazy extra 30 hours (provided line speed stays constant) to download the rest of the game.
Oh BTW to Lazygamer staff this is another article that gets flagged by chrome as dangerous

That means it’s probably around 25GB to download… FML

Pretty much although apparently steam pre load is 23 GB so it could work out at 18 GB but that’s still a lot. I don’t see why they didn’t put about 29 GB on multiple discs and the last gigabyte is downloaded from steam but make that 1 GB of files essential, i.e without them the game would never work.
I feel this is worse than MGSV as Konami didn’t try at all with regards to physical PC version, here Bethesda only sorta tried, like they were gonna do multiple discs and eventually it was too much like hard work and they said: “F*#k it I am tired we’ll only give them one disc”

I don’t understand the reasoning behind this, is it so that they can save money by printing fewer physical disks?!
I’m getting the console version, so at least I only have to download the patch but still, PC is really getting shafted with this one.

I dunno other AAA developers manage (CD Projekt Red, Monolith [shadow of Mordor], Bioware etc) with multiple discs, surely the amount of copies they are printing the DVD’s are super cheap surely saving like $0.5 a PC copy isn’t that much of a hit

Haha, have you ever installed GTAV on PC? 7 DVD’s and then you’re still downloading GBs of information.
It would be a lot better to leave 1GB of data off the discs rather than only give us 5GB and make us download a crap load (not all of us have uncapped)

As usual I will be ready to hand out steam backups of the game to anyone who wants in JHB.
I usually just ask for a wimpy coffee in return.

Never took a day off for a game release. One I do not get a lot of leave days so I like to save them for proper holidays and two, if the game is delayed due to couriers I would have a wasted a day…

I would never take leave to play a game, but I have enjoyed playing games while on leave.
When I recuperated from an operation on a leg, I played Kingdoms of Amular, it was glorious fun. But to put in leave to play a game? Nah.
In fact (do not hate me) my boss overruled me when I would not grant leave for a certain angry game event and show a little while back.
