Grand Theft Auto IV

Okay we are all aware that Microsoft paid $50 million to get some exclusive DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV but has the Don released some huge news into the community by mistake?

Don Mattrick, Head of Xbox,  has been speaking to Larry Nelson about the upcoming game and had the following to say

It’s an amazing piece of software and I’m really excited with its downloadable content and online multiplayer support

Again, that’s something that’s unique to 360. We think consumers are going to love that and it’s going to create, what I would describe again as the premium experience on our platform

So did he just say that the multi-player element of Grand Theft Auto IV is exclusive to the Xbox 360? Or was he just referring to the DLC part?

GTA is a huge title for Europe and that is the current battle ground so if Microsoft has managed to get an exclusive deal on the multi-player element it would be a huge blow to the PS3, and would go a long way to explaining why they didn’t moan about the PS3 induced delay.

[Update]This has already been denied by Rockstar so I wrote all of that for nothing. Multi-player will be a part of both platforms.

haha – Nice merging of his real name and xbox live name. It’s Larry Hyrb (aka Major Nelson), not Larry Nelson.

    lol that’s terrible :)…

From now on he is Larry Nelson on this site, it’s a nice name 😀

This story almost had me very worried!
Untill I got to the Update part 😀

Yay! So what does the multi-player compose off Lazy? Will we be able to form our own gangs? Rival other gangs?

    Here’s what will be awesome:
They should allow us to form gangs. More like Fanboy gangs. Then the 360 fanboys we must be able to take on the PS3’s fanboys via the mult-iplayer function across platforms.

    Just a thought… 😉

I don’t know much about the online part but it won’t be cross platform. The last I heard is that it will be 16 player and can consist of 3 gangs attacking each other.

    It really could be awesome
