Going into AAA game release time, some of the indies can get lost in the shuffle. But not if I have anything to say about it! Here’s all the indie news you need to know for the past week.

First up, we have this hilarious video from Mike Bithell to announce that Thomas Was Alone is coming to PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. You guys already know that I adore Mike and his game, and I love that his launch on more platforms is just using #Mike – far too funny and cute.

This War of Mine is a war game that is completely different from what we’ve seen before in gaming. Instead of playing as an elite soldier, you play as a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city. By day, snipers keep you from going outside, so you must spend time on maintaining your hideout, while at night you can scavenge nearby for things to help you survive.

Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them to endure the hardships. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

The game is launching soon on Steam for PC, Mac and Linux. Here’s the pretty trailer.

TinyKeep is a top-down procedurally generated dungeon escape game with permadeath. It has just launched on Steam and is 34% off at the moment. With three different endings, this isn’t your typical rogue-like experience.

As for bundles, there’s the Breakthrough bundle at Bundle Stars – it’s a bundle of only Early Access games, so you can be the first. The Humble Bundle also features games like Thomas Was Alone and Surgeon Simulator – if you don’t have these yet, you really could do worse things than pick this up. Also, I hate looking at all these awesome bundles because now I’m going to have to throw money at the Humble Comics Bundle. Too good to pass up!

Prototype of the Week

SciSquad is a tactical, squad-based tower offense game. Considering my love of tower defense, I had to check it out. You can play the really rather slick game over here.

Wielding my lasso of truth, I am the combination of nerd passion and grammar nazi. I delve into all things awesome and geek-tastic. I believe people should stop defining themselves and just enjoy playing games, so let’s get on with it!

  • Alien Emperor Trevor

Can you name your civilians in This War of Mine? I can picture a brave Rince venturing out by himself during the day to get much needed medical supplies for his wounded comrades, all hoping he survives the snipers.

    • HvR

Rince venturing out on the battle field like Valkyrie sucking out all the souls of the falling soldiers.

    • Admiral Chief 0

      LOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Sir Rants A Lot Llew

3 different endings huh? When indies start offering exactly the same as AAA titles like Mass Effect…..

Indies always seem to be prepared to tackle issues that triple A gaming won’t. This war of mine looks pretty interesting. I’ve added it to my wishlist and will keep tabs on it. Thanks Zoe!

I feel the same. Really awesome trailer as well. Trying to find out what I can about this game. 😛
