Hide your cats, because Alf may be returning!

What’s old is new again, as it looks like a certain alien with a hunger for cats is retur- And I can’t do this, I’m sorry. Out of all the late eighties and early nineties properties that are vomiting onto screen right now, Alf is by far the one TV Show that I truly despised.

Let’s just get this over with.

Paul Fusco, creator and lead puppeteer of Alf, recently spoke to THR about how he had been working on reviving the turd-faced alien, for several years now, and that the timing was finally right to bring him back.

I think the timing is right. That’s a big important thing, timing. There have been movies out there of characters that I didn’t think were on the same parallel as ALF that got movies made, so I think it’s time. I think it could be a home run on a lot of levels.

With a glut of retro properties, from Tron to Alvin and the Chipmunks, once again popular,  Fusco believes that Alf, with a tweaking here and there, would be perfect for more cynical movie goers.

ALF could be more outspoken now than ever, because the world is a whole different place than the ’80s. And I think the character still stands up and certainly has more to say now than ever. I think we would approach it in a fresh way.

I don’t think we would duplicate the TV show, but I think we would maybe put it in a storyline where we would explain how ALF got here and put him with a new family and let the character speak for himself.

Dammit, I don’t want to see money wasted on Alf! Make me a Quantum Leap or Small Wonders adaptation already!

  1. Tron, I could see going back and revisiting.  However, Alf is right up there with Teen Wolf in the, ‘Are you effin kidding me?’ department.
