I’m calling it now folks, prehistoric beasties and near-humans are the next big money-making gimmick in entertainment. After all, anything dating from the Cretaceous era seems to be popular now, and applying modern day thinking to some ancient lifestyles may not be a bad thing at all.
Pretty yabba dabba doo in fact, with this first trailer for The Croods.
When their cave is destroyed, the Crood family is forced to embark on an epic adventure into a pre-historic world in search of a new home. With the help of a brash, know-it-all nomad named Guy, the Croods learn to conquer their fears and discover what it takes to survive – each other.
R50 says that if this takes off, we’ll be getting a new Flintstones film. The Croods stars the voices of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman, and is directed by Chris “How To Train Your Dragon” Sanders and Kirk DeMicco.
Also, I’m hoping that Nic Cage finds a way to once again lose his mind, in animated form, when this film hits us next year March.

Man, Nick Cage shouldn’t do voice acting. He gives it no personality – the character here sounds exactly like the prof from Astro Boy.
Not really sold on this. It looks like typical 3D-animated movie stuff: big locations, big stunts, lots of prettiness, but no soul.
