The boys will all be back for HORRIBLE BOSSES 2. Foxx, Aniston and Spacey may return as well

Most people just dream about murdering their boss but back in 2011, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day actually tried to turn these dreams into reality in the smash hit black comedy Horrible Bosses. The operative word there being “tried” as these were no trained killers, resulting in much hilarity involving peanut allergies, cocaine, motherf@#$ers and the greatest combover seen on screen since The Apprentice.

And now it looks like they’ll all be back to do it all over again.

Grossing $209 million worldwide off just a $35million budget, it was always inevitable that a sequel would be made, the question was just whether or not the principal cast would return or some new unfortunate lackeys would be introduced. Well THR reports that after nearly 6 months of negotiations that Bateman, Sudeikis and Day have now all officially signed on to reprise their roles, while Jamie Foxx is currently still in talks to once again portray the greatest, romantic movie bootlegging, “murder consultant” ever, Dean “Motherf@cka” Jones.

As for the bosses themselves, well with Collin Farrel’s show stealing, cocaine sniffing, nunchuck waving, bad hair job sporting loony boss -SPOILER ALERT – being introduced to the business end of revolver in the first film to fatal results, he will definitely not be showing up any time soon. There is room though for the other two bosses played by Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey to reprise their roles, just don’t be expecting Aniston in that sexy dentist outfit again (oh, you know the one I’m talking about) as they will probably just be cameos, with a new set of horrible bosses introduced to torture the boys this time around.

Original director Seth Gordon has also been confirmed to be returning , while original writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have already turned in a first draft of the script earlier in the year, with New Line predicting the film to go into production in about August of this year.

I must admit though, that I’m a bit torn about this news. On the one hand, I absolutely loved the original, but on the other hand, this is not a franchise friendly concept. I’d just hate to see what was a great movie and cast get Hangover 2’d with a paint by numbers sequel that just rehashes old jokes. Plus, it will be very hard to top Collin Farrel and his greasy combover.

  1. Agreed on the whole sequel thing. HB 1 was brilliant, but I have seen way too many sequels fall flat on their faces. (Glares angrily at Taken 2)

I really don’t want a sequel here. The first movie was ok, it was watchable. This is blatant money grubbing. Blatant on the level of Son of the Mask. The first movie left off with no where really to go, certainly not an entire sequel, really what are they going to do try kill there boss’s again? Are the boss’s going to yet in on the action? I don’t see this being a good movie.

I don’t know how you make a sequel to a movie that had no loose ends

I rather enjoyed the first movie, esp Jennifer Anniston whom I have never liked, until the first movie…
