When it comes to college party movies, we all know how they’ll go, right? There’ll be the geeky virgins who sneak into the party of the year, the quarterback who dates the hot lead cheerleader will be a douche, there will be a group of stoners up to some weird antics, everybody will be drinking beer out of red plastic cups, there will be some kind of temporal event resulting in multiple timelines – each with separate versions of characters – all collapsing into only one timeline with possibly disastrous effects, the slutty gir- Wait, what?! Back on up for just one Gallifreyan minute.

Converging timelines? Time clones? Temporal paradoxes? AND they have those red cups? This sounds like my kind of party! And we’re all invited, thanks to this firest trailer to Plus One!

In this supernatural thriller, three college friends go to the biggest party of the year, each looking for something different: love, sex and a simple human connection. When a mysterious phenomenon disrupts the party, it lights a fuse on what will become the strangest night anyone has ever seen. As the three friends struggle to find what they’re looking for, the party quickly descends into a chaos that challenges if they can stay friends or if they can even stay alive.

Thank you very much, creepy final shot of that trailer, my libido is very confused right now. Temporal masturbation aside, this actually looks rather interesting. Though it had it’s good points, I wasn’t overly enamoured with writer/director Dennis Illiadis’ previous offering, the 2009 remake of The Last House on The Left, but this definitely seems like a step up.

The operative word there being “seems” as the film didn’t receive the warmest of  receptions at SXSW earlier in the year. It still seems worth a watch though.

The film will be getting all paradoxical on September 20, 2013.
