Love or hate Terry Gilliam films, one thing is for certain: The man knows how to make his worlds look completely crazy. From the bureaucratic mess of Brazil through to the very real terror of 12 Monkeys, Gilliam films are always crawling with all manner of background horror and absurdity.

And in Zero Theorem, that eye for insane detail just got turned up a notch.

Directed by Oscar nominee Terry Gilliam (“Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”), “The Zero Theorem” revolves around an eccentric and reclusive computer genius (two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz) plagued with existential angst who works on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence or the lack thereof once and for all. However, it is only once he experiences the power of love and desire that he is able to understand his very reason for being.

Well, that was like Minority Report on an acid trip. The film is looking visually interesting so far, and it’s going to be interesting to see if the substance matches the style when it comes out . Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to apply for membership at the church of Church Of Batman The Redeemer.

  1. Of course the substance will match the style! The real question: is the world finally ready to handle Gilliam when he’s firing on all cylinders?

I predict another cult classic. But I’m curious to see what else he can do with special effects.
