You know, for guys who thus far have really only been known for making people laugh on Community, co-directing siblings Anthony and Joe Russo have managed to build some incredible buzz for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Every trailer and piece of footage we’ve seen thus far for the movie has looked amazing, and this new TV spot is no different. Everything looks to be far more action packed and dramatic than the first film, and if you pay careful attention, you may just see the hints that we may just be seeing a major character death happen as well.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

So did you guys catch that shot of Samuel L. Jackson’s SHIELD Director Nick Fury lying on the hospital bed, and Chris Evans’ words about “the last thing Fury told me”? Could it be that Fury is headed to the great big helicarrier in the sky?

If that is the case, this will be a major development as Jackson’s Fury has been the one thing that has linked all of Marvel’s movies thus far, and I would have thought that he would play a significant role in the upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It could all just be a big red herring though, as Marvel are not normally in the habit of letting major plot points slip in trailers.

Whatever Fury’s fate, there is no denying that the film is looking superb, as you can see with these 10 new images, which also gives us a nice look at Evans back in the classic WW2 Captain America duds.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo and hits cinemas on April 4, 2014.

I’d much rather have sub 1-minute trailers than the mini-movies we sometimes get.

That is true. I think it must be hard sometimes to get that balance right.
