Gotta be who you are in this new trailer for THE EQUALIZER

With the exception of the late Tony Scott, very few directors has gotten Denzel Washington to unleash his inner badass quite like Antoine Fuqua. And now the two are pairing up again for The Equalizer, a movie version of an 1980’s TV series the same name (which I honestly have no recollection of). But while his Oscar winning role in Fuqua’s Training Day put more of the “bad” in badass than we’re used to from the leading man, this adaptation sees Washington in full on hero mode again. Sort of. By his own admission in this new trailer for the film, he’s “a knight in shining armour… in a world where knights don’t exist any more”, but last time I checked knights didn’t get too violent with sledgehammers or make predictions on how quickly they would destroy a room full of Russian thugs. They totally should have though.

In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

The Equalizer also stars Marton Csokas, Chloë Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo, and is scheduled for release on September 26, 2014.
