The very first episode of All Elite Wrestling Dynamite was held at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. Here’s all the action that went down in an explosive debut.

Cody def. Sammy Guevara

The energy from the crowd was unreal, the finale was a masterclass in pain and Chris Jericho proved that no matter where he is, he’s still one of the best heels to ever work the industry. If AEW was looking to make an opening statement, this was the perfect match with which to do so.

MJF def. Brandon Cutler

One of the brightest young prospects in professional wrestling today, MJF made his big break in front of a global audience in a match that was equal parts mesmerising and baffling with its finish.

Chaos erupted between So Cal Uncensored and the Lucha Bros. before a tag team tournament could begin

PAC def. “Hangman” Adam Page

No gods or kings, only the bastard PAC. In a massive mid-show match, two of the best performers in the world pulled out all the stops as they went to war in a match that was simply brutal to behold.

Riho def. Nyla Rose to become the first AEW Woman’s champion

And we have a winner! While it looked like Rose would be the obvious choice, Riho’s plucky attitude gave the underdog a well deserved win and the honour of being AEW’s first woman’s champion.

Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz def. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks

Whoa. While the likes of Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were already big draws, having a bout finish with another surprise addition to the AEW roster was classic sports entertainment. Having ditched the Jack Swagger identity, Jack Hager (Seriously die his hair brown and give him a moustache he still looks like a Final Fight character) hit the ring to make his mark. Chaos, carnage and brutality while an electrified audience watched on.

What a hell of a way to end the very first episode of AEW. There may have been a few rough spots, but if the debut was anything to by then the future looks dazzling for the upstart promotion as they continue to improve on their product.

Far less glitz and glamour with AEW, and far more bare bones entertainment.

I hope they are successful and give old Vince a wake-up call!
