They always say be more afraid of the man who handles the money than the man who handles the gun, but what happens when that man handles both?
Ben Affleck is about to show us in the upcoming action/thriller/drama The Accountant.
The official plot synopsis is as follows:
Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations.
With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.
I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting that. There’s some serious intensity in that trailer and I was quite surprised by the emphasis on Wolff’s childhood – it seems like there’s a focus on understanding his character, which looks interesting and adds depth to a movie. That combined with the stellar cast makes this one worth keeping an eye out for. What do you think?
The Accountant is due for release in the US on 14 October. Directed by Gavin O’Connor (Warrior), with the screenplay by Bill Dubuque (The Judge), it stars Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, Jon Bernthal, Alison Wright, J.K. Simmons, John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor.
And honestly, who doesn’t want to see Batman v The Punisher: Auditor of Justice?
