Yes, yes it is. Up, up and away!
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder teamed up with animation legend Bruce Timm to help craft the two minute segement, which charts the very first appearance of Superman all the way to his recent big screen reboot. “The idea was to start with Siegel and Shuster and end with Henry Cavill, stopping at all the high points and iconic moments in between,” Timm said to EW.
Comic book fans will pick up on some of the various incarnations present here. From the original look, through to the benchmark work set by Curt Swan, John Byrne and Dan Jurgens. Then you’ve got the Christopher Reeve, George Reeves and Henry Cavill. Dean Cain and Brandon Routh though? Lol, geddafugouttahere.
There are a ton more references, as the short shifts from the classic Superman theme into the current Hans Zimmer score. It’s beautiful, inspiring and a great tribute to the last son of Krypton.
