While other networks dread change, Netflix is one media provider that operates in the Hell’s Kitchen of TV and movies without fear. After creating a new season of Arrested Development and a few new shows, the online service is looking to capes and tights for their next big hit. And they’ve got one hell of a Billy Club being thrown at the hero genre, with Daredevil leading Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones onto that platform.
And it looks like ol’ hornhead is getting some help, from the cabin in the woods.
Drew Goddard will be doing some writing work on the show, according to the Wrap. Neither Goddard nor Marvel have commented yet, but usually the Wrap has been spot-on with such leads before. Goddard has been busy as of late. Besides the cult hit Cabin in the woods which he co-wrote with Avengers boss Joss Whedon, he’s also had his hands busy with World War Z and Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Robopocalypse.
And being pals with Whedon doesn’t hurt either, as this Marvel project will most likely seek to have a unified style in line with all their other shows and movies. That, and Goddard may be the biggest Daredevil fan round according to Collider:
You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his wall while growing up. Even when I was 18, I still had the blood red door with the, ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear.’ That was what I loved and so it’s the sort of thing that if we can find the right project, I would love to do it.
Meanwhile, Jessica Jones has also gotten a boss. Melissa “Dexter” Rosenberg will help oversee development of that show, putting her four seasons of show-running on Dexter to good use, as she tackles superhero turned investigator Jessica Jones. Rosenberg has been attached to the character since 2010 when the ABC network was considering bringing the character to the small screen.
