Charlie Brown, Snoopy dog and Woodstock are a remnant of another generation. A time when cartoon characters were sweeter, problems were easily solved and adults had the vocal range of a stuffed trombone. I kinda miss the old Charlie Brown strips and cartoon specials. But I’m glad that the ol’ blockhead is making a return.
For the first time ever, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang we know and love from Charles Schulz’s timeless “Peanuts” comic strip will be making their big-screen debut; like they’ve never been seen before in a CG-Animated Feature film in 3D.
There’s a lot of great stuff in that trailer. Snoopy’s out of control imagination, vintage sound effects and the majority of the visuals adopting a 2.5D animation style that bridges the gap between retro and modern animation which results in an animation style feeling pretty fresh. That, and the adherence to the traditional Peanuts style that doesn’t involve sacrificing characters to make them look more “modern”, has me happy.
The Peanuts Movie will be slipping that football out of range of your kick at the very last moment, next year on November 6.
