After we came down from the high of that first surprise trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane hitting us out of nowhere, we quickly realized that (no surprise!) we actually knew very little about the JJ Abrams produced “blood relative” to 2008’s monsterapalooza Cloverfield. But during this weekend past’s Superbowl a new trailer was dropped and now… Well, actually we don’t know much more than we did a few weeks ago. Except for the fact that it still looks freaking good.
This new trailer does seem to confirm the reports though that 10 Cloverfield Lane started life as The First Cellar, a story about a woman who is involved in a car crash and then wakes up in underground bunker being told that she’s being kept there for her own good to protect her from some calamity topside. A calamity that apparently involves lots of dramatic lighting!
Check it out below.
10 Cloverfield Lane is the feature film directing debut of Dan Trachtenberg, the guy behind the incredible videogame fan film Portal: No Escape. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher Jr. and is scheduled for release on March 11, 2016.
